I'm considering larger wheels for my '99 996 C2 (from 17 up to 18). Anyone care to share pros/cons of doing so? I understand I can get wider, lower profile tires on them which theoretically will give me better grip. Any problem getting them to fit? Need spacers? New brakes? Wear faster?

Thanks,

Mike

Mike,

Can't address the 17 to 18 but can share my experiance with 18 to 19......the 19's were dramatically heavier and drop in torque felt significant....this was on my 997 C4S. I run 18" wheels (Kinesis and HRE) with Hoosiers on my 997 turbo and I feel the track and weight transfer better on the 18" wheels

Lots of tire width options in the 18" category. spacers are helpful to widen your footprint. a good tire discussion guru is Dwain at Vision motorsports....949-770-2888 or dwain@visionmotorsports.com

good luck!
